Getting the Most Out of a Poker Party

If you just moved in to the neighborhood, wanted a nice family gathering or just to assemble everybody for a special occasion, a good poker party would be very nice to socialize and have some nice, clean fun. Having some variations to the game would be very effective too.

Normally, you need to consider the number of attendees. Age and gender are sometimes important too when managing a poker party. Having some categories for certain age groups would be nice, like toy cards for small kids to play with and a head poker table for the seniors that wants to have some real poker tournament.

Try to think of livelier card games also, just in case your visitors do not feel like betting on poker anymore. A good poker party needs to have a "Plan B", to make it more entertaining and avoid boredom. You might want to try a card game called Rummy. It can be played in groups of three, but normally, it is more fun in four to six players. The goal of this game is to get a three of a kind or three cards in sequence. Each player will be dealt seven cards, and the rest will be placed at the center of the table. Every player can discard any card on their hand, and they should place it in front of the player next to him/her, face up. The next player can either take the discarded card, or take one card from the deck in the center of the table. The first one to get a three of a kind or three cards in sequence wins.

Not many women are into poker, but you cannot conclude right away that this is a man's game. A lot of men play the game, but it is not an implication that women don't. There has been some connotations that a poker party is a "guy's night out". Maybe it is because of the atmosphere of the poker party, or the name itself. We are not sure; all we know is that men are more interested in poker than women are.

It would be wise not to tell anybody that your pockets were wiped clean in a poker party. It would not give a very good impression especially to a man's girl. Whether it is her wife or girlfriend. So to make sure that you can still go out to a poker party; try not to say those stuff. Better yet, buy her new clothes or jewelries with your winnings to give her the impression that she is also benefitting from it.
